    Tech-no-no-no!

    Setting:  Stoplight after work

So there I am, sitting at this intersection, waiting for the light to turn green, and blasting my "angry white girl feminist music."  The windows are down, and I'm tired because it's after work.  This car stops next to me in the turn lane blasting what can only be described as "Barbie Spears techno crap."  So I turn to glare at these people, and as it turns out, the occupant in the car next to me is not an SUV loaded with hyper teenage girls fresh out of their sophomore year.  No, no, no, it's this guy who looks to be midway through college.

    We make eye contact.

    I burst out laughing.

    He turns off his music.

    "Hello there!"

    Me:  "Hi."

    "Are you laughing at me?"

    Me:  "No, just your music."

    "What, you don't like techno?"

The light turns green, we both edge forward.

I shake my head:  "No, not really."

    His car starts to turn.

    "Don't worry.  I'm fucking drunk.  It's okay."

  • Octo-gone?

    Sadly, no.

Could we please cease the news coverage of Jon and Kate?  Seriously, who gives a damn if they're getting divorced or not?  Loads of people get divorced every day, and the only difference I see is that Jon and Kate are a pair of lazy stage parents who have successfully managed to exploit their brood, and the brood's bad behavior.

So congratulations.  Now take you, your ex, and Dr. Phil's circus act off the air and let someone else breathe.

  • These Are the Voyagers of the Starship Enterprise.

It is a good thing that my list of "Reasons Why I Like Being Female" exceeds my list of "Reasons Why I Don't Like Being Female."  Even looking around my room, I can come up with at least three reasons why I like being a girl (e.g. pretty clothing, pretty things, and frilly air freshener)  There were maybe only three reasons that I could conceive as to why I do not like being a girl before this afternoon.

Today marked my first doctor's visit in six years.  They helped lengthen my "Reasons Why I Don't Like Being Female" list.  Sure, who likes being iron deficient?  And I'm not too keen on being told that my gallon intake of calcium is not enough to fight off osteoporosis.

Of course, my real problem might be with medical tools that look oddly similar to medieval implements of torture, and how they "boldly go where no man has gone before."
